Risk prediction helps HACCP audits
How food safety risk prediction helps with your HACCP Audits
Food safety risk prediction plays an important role in HACCP by helping to identify potential hazards before they occur, allowing for preemptive measures to be taken to prevent or control them. By using predictive models, food producers can identify potential food safety risks associated with each step of the production process, from raw materials to the finished product.
For example, a food producer may use predictive modelling of iComplai to identify the risk of contamination from a specific ingredient or processing step. They may also use predictive modeling to identify the risk of a foodborne illness outbreak associated with a particular product. Read more.
iComplai predictions on unauthorised ethylene-oxide products came true
On June 23rd, 2021 iComplai algorithms predicted the new products where the substance will be detected - see the original post here.
Looking almost a year back, it can be seen that 7 out of 8 products that were predicted to exceed MRL for ethylene oxide became true. These products with exceeding ETO (ethylene-oxide) limits were published as official notification at the European Commission RASFF database. Read more.
This is only one of the examples where the iComplai algorithms predicted the upcoming risks.

iComplai alerts for lead risk in cinnamon
iComplai alerts for lead in cinnamon, 1 year before the massive recalls
In October 2022, iComplai detected a sharp rise in lead contamination alerts for spices, especially cinnamon, and issued an early warning. The system’s AI models identified abnormal patterns across global data sources and highlighted a high likelihood of adulteration.
One year later, this prediction materialized in the U.S. applesauce recall affecting 3 million pouches and 566 children—proving iComplai’s ability to anticipate food safety risks before they escalate. This case demonstrates how predictive analytics can transform food safety from reactive response to proactive prevention. Read more.
iComplai Predicted New Pesticide Hazards in Apples and Lemons
iComplai’s Prediction History flagged apple–acetamiprid and lemon–profenofos as persistent, previously predicted risks across multiple ingredient-pesticide combinations.
These signals were validated when the monitoring feed logged “New hazard in commodity – lemon/profenofos” on 16 Sep 2025 and “apple/acetamiprid” on 23 Sep 2025.
The alignment between model outputs and authority notifications demonstrates advance warning capability for commodity–pesticide pairs. Read more.
